Atlantic wolffish (Anarhichas lupus)
This basement dwelling, eel shaped, sedentary, oddity lives in temperatures so low it makes its own antifreeze. With a face only a mother could love, it keeps sea urchins and crab in check. These late bloomers don’t reproduce until reaching 5-6 years of age, but when they do the dudes do all the work guarding the eggs for months while the ladies swim off to do their thing.
