Did you hear about the one where the mischievous squirrel stole Matti’s notes?
Ahhhh, yeah… I wrote down all the names of these cool plants on a sheet of paper like a good student… and ahhhhh….this little vermin at the SF Botanical Gardens came right up to me and took it. Yeah, that’s it!
Seriously…I forgot to write down the names, but think it would be fun to see who can name these mystery plants and tree. NOID #1 (above) was about hip height and shrubby. The flower stalks came in a variety of colors…more or less what you see above.
NOID #2, was blooming a wine red, 10 petal flower (or 5 with 5 bracts), and you can see the bud just below the open flower. That big leaf in the lower left belonged to another plant. I think it was more vine-like than shrubby.
Here’s the tough one for double the points. Tall tree, about 30-40 feet tall. Long weeping branches. The leaves were not really needle like, as they were long and scaly. Send a comment on what you think.
