When we need a break from our garden we can always walk across the street to our community garden, La Playa Park. We help take care of the succulent area and add new plants once in awhile.
La Playa Park is rich blend of garden plants….from succulents…to perennials and California natives…to veggies. People in the neighborhood tend to gravitate to their favorites to lend a helping hand, or take a rest in one of the many seating nooks.
Close to Ocean Beach, La Playa Park is a sweet cozy space where the N-Judah turns around at the end of the line. Recently SF Surfrider secured funding through the Community Challenge Grant to expand. Soon we will have fully functional bocce ball courts! We’ll bust out some non Hipstamatic pics when their latest Plant Don’t Pave project is complete.
We would love to hear about the community gardens in your hood.
